My initial focus will be to assess the needs of turfgrass professionals and various stakeholder groups and then begin to formulate needed educational programs that support sustainable and environmentally sound trends while providing support for the economic viability of our turf-related agribusinesses.  As turf managers (such as those in the municipal sector), face the challenges of growing and maintaining turf without the use of pesticides, it will be critically important for us at the university to guide them in new standards of turf care and help communicate new expectations.

Industry Experience:

I am excited to be a part of the UConn turfgrass team. While much of my time in the turfgrass industry has been spent in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, I welcome the opportunity to work with turfgrass professionals here in Connecticut.  Being involved in the turfgrass seed industry for over 25 years has provided me with a varied resume of experiences in the turfgrass industry; particularly in the area of turfgrass selection.  As both a sales representative and agronomist in the turfgrass seed industry I was involved in development, evaluation and market introduction of numerous turfgrass cultivars.  Over the years, I have worked with numerous superintendents, sports turf managers, sod producers and landscape professionals to develop and evaluate turfgrass seed mixtures that would best suit a specific site, need or circumstance.
