My Master of Science project involves a study of the complexity of sand particle shape through digital imaging technology. I am investigating how to use digital imaging to quantify the differences in particle shape complexity, and how these differences correlate with soil properties, like bearing capacity and bulk density. I am also looking at which components of particle shape best predict soil strength characteristics.
