Identification provides the critical foundation for turfgrass management. It is imperative that the turf manager knows which grasses are present in the sward so that proper management practices can be applied to those specific grasses. Identification of grasses, however, is challenging to say the least. This tutorial is intended to help the novice and the experienced turf manager with cool-season turfgrass identification through an interactive approach using graphics, pictures, and three-dimensional models. The program, however, is not meant to be a substitute for direct observation of actual grasses, but as a tool to reinforce the concepts of grass identification.
