1st University of Connecticut Turfgrass Field Day
Tuesday, July 22nd 2008, Plant Science Research Facility, Storrs, Connecticut

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of its Turfgrass Science Program, the University of Connecticut's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources will host its first Turfgrass Field Day on July 22, 2008. 

The first of this Biennial Field Day Event will focus on current research projects conducted in the areas of professional and residential turfgrass management. Specific projects to be highlighted include:

  • disease and weed management
  • impact of topdressing programs on golf course fairways
  • organic management of athletic fields
  • rolling and mowing programs for golf course putting greens
  • commercial and residential cultivar evaluations
  • nutrient management
  • low-maintenance turf, and many more

Turfgrass managers will also have the opportunity to question UConn’s turf experts on management recommendations, visit with turfgrass exhibitors and watch demonstrations of the latest equipment used to manage fine turf. 

The Turfgrass Field Day involves walking through various turfgrass areas spread out over numerous acres. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the daily weather conditions.
